A Nigerian lady has taken to Twitter to mourn after losing her parents in the Catholic church attack in Owo on Sunday, June 5.
Unknown gunmen opened fire on worshippers at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo state yesterday, and many were left dead and others fatally wounded.
An elderly couple, Dr. and Mrs. Ajanaku, were two of the scores of victims who lost their lives in the attack.
Their orphaned daughter has now taken to Twitter to mourn their demise.
“The audacity of Nigeria to take my parents from me. I will always hate this country!!!!! It’s a promise! To my fellow parishioners who suffered a loss or two in this. I hope we can all find the fortitude the bear this loss. We were a community of well-meaning, harmless people. Our parents worked hard for a useless absolutely detestable govt. How can Nigeria take so much from us?” She wrote on Twitter.
Meanwhile, a Catholic Priest identified as Rev Father Andrew Abayomi, who was present at St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo, Ondo State, has shared an eyewitness account of the attack which led to the death of many worshippers at the church.
The clergyman in an interview with BBC Yoruba, said the attack occurred as the service was about to end.
He revealed that the gunshot which came from different corners, pushed them into locking the church for over 20 minutes till the gunmen left.
