Popular Nigerian comedian and actor, Babatunde Bernard Tayo better known as Baba Tee has revealed that well-known stand-up comedian Seyi Law stole his joke without asking for permission.
He said that he and Seyi had formerly been the closest of friends, but their friendship ended when he learned about the comedian’s questionable behaviour.
Baba Tee discussed the betrayal and other private issues on The Honest Bunch podcast, co-hosted by OAP Nedu Wazobia.
The actor related how Omo Jesu, a common acquaintance, phoned him to let him know that Seyi Law was cracking jokes at a comedy concert hosted by Ayo Makun.
He insisted that he couldn’t believe it till it actually happened in front of him when he learned that Seyi Law had used one of his jokes for the show’s open mic segment.
Baba Tee said;
“My best friend was Seyi Law, we were very close. One day na hin Omo Jesu call me, say ‘Hello Baba Tee, Seyi don dey use your joke here oh’. I say ‘what joke, which material hin use?’
He say the material hin use na that class wey yu give joke…. Hin don dey talk am for AY Live, hin dey take do open mic. Until when him render my joke for where I dey, for my presence, my intellectual property!”
