Nancy Isime, TFAA award-winning actress and On-Air-Personality, hosted the 16th edition of The Future Awards Africa held yesterday in Lagos. The awards, as is every year, celebrates young people making outstanding achievements in their various fields. A lot of young people have redefined the norms in their fields and as such are recognised and encouraged. This year’s event was themed, ‘Celebrating Challengers and Builders.’
Among the nominees for the Music Category of The Future Awards Africa Prize—which Infinix sponsored—were Temilade ‘Tems’ Openiyi, Joseph ‘Joeboy’ Akinwale, Adedamola ‘Fireboy’ Adefolahan, Oyinkansola ‘Ayra Starr’ Aderibigbe, Chukwuka ‘Ckay’ Ekweani, Stanley ‘Omah Lay’ Didia, and Daniel ‘Buju’ Benson. Eventually, Temilade ‘Tems’ Openiyi was awarded Winner of The Future Awards Africa Prize for Music 2022. As a result, Infinix would provide 1 year supply of Infinix devices to Tems, asides from the cash donation for the award.
Other categories were awarded prizes for outstanding achievements like The Future Awards Africa Prize for content creation, advocacy & activism, community action, professional service, acting, journalism, lawyers, film, entrepreneurship, technology, art and literature, health and wellness, academic achievement, fashion, service to young people, and young person of the year.
Infinix did not sponsor the show to launch a device, but to support the Future Awards in celebrating and promoting the youth, especially in the entertainment and music industry. Infinix believes in them and will always support them to make their dreams come true.
As part of the #InfinixXFutureAwards for the fashion category, Fisayo Fosudo, Josh 2 Funny, Efe Money, Tsakute Ladi Jonah known as @officialsaskay on Instagram and Emmanuel Umoh Jnr. and other fans of the brand came to the red carpet to show their support and show off their fashion style. Meanwhile, the winners of the Red Carpet Best Dressed Prize in the male and female category are Emmanuel Umoh and Saskay respectively.
The brand also seized the opportunity to showcase and celebrate past winners of its empowerment initiatives. Twist Berry, the singer and songwriter; Tosin Omotosho, the award-winning skater; and Gabriel the talented rapper were all beneficiaries of the empowerment programs organised by the brand in recent times.
