American wrestler and actor, John Cena>, has caused a huge stir on the internet after baring it all to present the Best Costume Award at the 2024 Oscar Awards.
John Cena is undoubtedly the center of discussion following the unusual stunt he pulled at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood at Sunday’s 96th Academy Awards.
During the award show, the 46-year-old wrestler was invited on stage by host Jimmy Kimmel, who referenced the 50th anniversary of a streaker, Robert Opel, running onstage at the ceremony to interrupt late actor-presenter David Niven.
He then questioned what it would be like for such an incident to happen again at the award show. Calling on John Cena, he said,
‘Can you imagine if a nude man ran across the stage today?’
‘I said, can you imagine if – a nude man ran across the stage today? Wouldn’t that be crazy?’
John Cena, who was backstage then said: ‘Psst! Psst, Jimmy! Come here.’
Kimmel said: ‘I can’t come there – do the thing! Excuse me for a second.
What’s going on? You’re supposed to run across the stage’ as Cena said: ‘Yeah, I – changed my mind. I don’t want to do the streaker bit.’
‘I just don’t feel right about it. It’s an elegant event, you know, you should feel shame right now for suggesting such a tasteless …’
Kimmel said: ‘You wrestle naked, why not?’
In response, Cena said of his trademark wrestling outfit: ‘I don’t wrestle naked, I wrestle in jorts!’
Instead of running, Cena walked sideways onto the stage with the envelope for Best Costume Design covering his manhood.
He then stated that he can’t open the envelope in his position, at which point Kimmel took over from him.
Cena was later covered up with a gold toga to present the award to Poor Things costume designer Holly Waddington.
