The Akwa Ibom Police command have reportedly arrested some officials of the Deeper Life High School in Uyo, over the alleged sexual abuse of a JS 1 student of the school, Don Davis Achibong.
Premiumtimes reports that some staff of the school have been detained after attending a meeting summoned by the state Commissioner of Police, Andrew Amiengheme, at the police headquarters.
According to reports, amongst the deatinees are one Dr. Effiong Udimidue, the Vice Principal of the School, an administrative staff, as well as two teachers, who double as Boarding Masters of the Junior students hostel and Senior Students hostel.
Don Davis’s parents’ lawyer, David Okokon, said the police would be arraigning those involved in the case today January 6.
“They (the police) are arraigning those people found culpable, this morning,” said Mr Okokon
Confirming the arrest and detention of the officials, the spokesperson of the state police command, Odiko MacDon, revealed that they were preparing to arraign “those found culpable”.
He said,
“This morning, we are trying to tidy up (investigation), we are dotting our i’s and crossing our t’s. If we are not through this morning, they will be arraigned tomorrow.”
