A traditional ruler in Kastina State, identified as Bishir Bala Kofar-bai, has been reportedly suspended as the ‘Magatakarda’ by the Kastina Emirate, due to rape charges against him.
In a statement released to newsmen by the Secretary of the council, Bello Ifo, on Thursday, it was revealed that the traditional ruler allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl, who is the daughter of one his servants and reportedly sent on an errand to the palace.
The incident which was reported to the victim’s parents by the girl, led to the arrest and detention of the Traditional ruler, after they took her to the hospital for medical examination and care.
Also, the state’s Coalition of Civil Society Organisations, has been mounting pressure on the Police to ensure that justice is delivered at the traditional ruler’s prosecution.
His suspension will however be lifted, pending the determination of a criminal litigation against him.
