Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, notoriously known as Evans the kidnapper, has reportedly turned over a new leaf according to his lawyer, Emefo Etudo.
Last Wednesday 29th of January, Etudo informed Justice Adenike Coker of the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja that Evans has repented from his life of crime and is seeking mercy from the Lagos State Government.
He also revealed that Evans has applied for a plea bargain and has even offered to speak to youths in schools about the dangers of crime.
This apparent transformation is attributed to the efforts of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and the Federal Government, which provided Evans with a scholarship to study and reform.
His speech at court goes thus, “..My client is now a repentant person. He was a young man consumed by crime, but he is now remorseful. Presently, he is a 200-level student of the National Open University. In fact, he made A1 in all his papers in NECO while in prison…His reformation was made possible by the RCCG and the Federal Government, which gave him scholarship to study and become a better person”
Justice Coker has adjourned the matter until March 20, paving the way for a possible trial.
