American Comedian, Kevin Hart has decided to step down from hosting this year’s Oscar Awards after he irked the LGBT community with his tweets concerning ‘being Gay’.
The 39-year-old comedian and actor had announced on Tuesday that he would host the Academy Awards, the film industry’s highest honors.
However, after his tweet was deemed an insult to the Gay Community, the comedian was asked by the film academy to apologize or be replaced as the show host.
Kevin hart has now made the move to apologize and also step down from hosting the award ceremony.
“I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year’s Oscar’s … this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists,” Hart tweeted late on Thursday.
“I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past,” he tweeted.
