Kaduna state Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has said that he would never pay any ransom even if his biological son were to be kidnapped.
The governor, who has constantly kicked against negotiations with bandits, made this disclosure during a radio interview on Friday, April 9.
The interviewer had asked if his administration was considering paying ransom to secure the release of students kidnapped by suspected bandits from the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Kaduna.
Gov. El-Rufai replied,
“I mean it and I will say it again here. Even if my son is kidnapped, I will rather pray for him to make heaven instead because I won’t pay any ransom”.
He added that his administration is “absolutely not paying ransom” but will employ other means to ensure the students return to their families safe and sound.
