Lagos State Government Responds To Viral Video Of Traders Selling Items On The Rail Lines (WATCH)

The Lagos State Government has swiftly responded to a viral video showing traders conducting business on rail tracks within the state.

The sight of a trader comfortably selling wares while a train passed by left many social media users in shock on Monday, February 12.

In reaction to the video, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed that the traders have been cleared from the rail lines.

In a statement accompanied by a video showing the tracks free of traders, he announced the immediate enforcement and clearing of the rail tracks by the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water, in collaboration with the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI).

The intervention was put in place to address the dangerous and illegal practice of conducting commercial activities on the rail lines.

The enforcement team will work diligently to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.

The Lagos State Government’s swift action to clearing the rail tracks has been widely applauded, with many expressing relief that steps are being taken to protect lives and prevent potential accidents.
