The Lagos State’s special Court for Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence pronounced its first sentence, Wednesday, 21st February, 2018.
The court was commissioned last month to handle cases of sexual and domestic violence in the state. The first sentence was a case of defilement and the offender was sentenced to 60 years in jail.

Defilement is not of less gravity than rape. Defilement is the offense of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a child.
