Two lesbians tied the knot recently in South Africa. Babalwa Dasha (36) from Bhofolo, Eastern Cape and Zonke Mngoma (37) from Newlands West, Durban met two years ago at work. They said it didn’t take long for them to see they were meant for each other.
They were married at Zonke’s family home where friends, family and neighbours came to witness their union.
Both women work at Umhlanga Hospital, where Babalwa is a pharmacist and Zonke is a nurse.
Their traditional wedding was conducted by Pastor Zenzi Zungu of the Victory Ministries Church International.
“We are all created by God. He made us all different,” said Zungu.
Zonke, who has an 11-year-old daughter, said: “Our families accepted us and we are happy for that.”
Babalwa’s mother, Thandi Dasha (59) welcomed her makoti to the Dasha family.
“We love you and I’m glad that my daughter brought home someone who will take care of me,” she said.
