A king in Ekiti State, Oba Gbadebo Ogunsakin, who is the Olowa of Odo Oro Ekiti in Ikole Local Government Area, has been killed in his palace by a man suspected to be mentally challenged.
The incident, according to a source in the town, occurred early on Monday when a man suspected to be mentally deranged entered the palace and murdered the monarch.
The monarch’s death led to a violent protest in the town as youths trooped out to show their grievances over the gory incident.
The man was said to have escaped into the bush after committing the crime and now being trailed by youths and security agencies.
The assailant is from the same royal family as the slain traditional ruler. He was earlier seen before, a council meeting, today, sitting on the throne and was chased away.
The monarch was stabbed by the assailant while he was attempting to enter his vehicle after the council meeting.
