Former Chelsea star, Mikel Obi, has finally addressed the long-standing rumor about his alleged beef with iconic singer, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2baba.
The controversy began years ago when news circulated that Mikel Obi had snubbed 2baba’s handshake at a London club in 2006.
Subsequently, fans speculated that 2baba’s song ‘only me’ was directed at the Super Eagles captain for disrespecting him in London.
Seventeen years after the initial rumor emerged, a fan revisited the issue by questioning Mikel about the truth behind the alleged incident.
The fan posed the question in response to a recent post shared on Mikel’s Instagram page on Monday, July 31.
“Did you truly snub 2face in a club in London back in 06?” he asked.
In response, Mikel refuted the viral report, stating that he is a huge fan of 2baba and could never have snubbed him.
“No, I never did. Am a big fan of his. So I wouldn’t do such a thing have a lovely day,” he responded.

In 2016, 2baba also dismissed the rumor during an interview with Brila FM, stating that he and Mikel had a good laugh about it at the time.
His words,
“At the time I did the song, Mikel had issues with his inability to show up for certain Super Eagles games, then some very good rumour monger picked a line from my song as regards patriotism towards representing the national football team and ran with the story of a rift between us, I spoke with Mikel on the phone, and we had a good laugh about it.”
