Queen Dami, one of the widows of late Alaafin of Oyo, Lamidi Adeyemi III, has caused a stir on social media after she joined a matchmaking platform to find love.
The queen, who was previously married to the monarch before he passed away in April 2022, joined a live dating session hosted by self-acclaimed matchmaker and actor, Lege Miami, with hopes of finding a compatible partner.
However, Lege made disrespectful comments to the queen during the session, criticizing her for wearing a modest outfit that didn’t show her curves despite being in search of a man.
He even suggested that she should change into a more revealing outfit if she was genuinely serious about attracting a man, which she agreed to.
Furthermore, the controversial actor insisted that she speaks only English language during the session.
“You’re looking for a husband, you’re putting on Abaya. Speak in English, even me myself I am forcing myself, so speak it how you understand,” Lege said to Dami in a disrespectful tone.
This incident has sparked mixed reactions online, with many condemning the queen for ridiculing the royal family with her action, while others chided Lege for disrespecting the queen despite her royal status.
An IG user said wrote, “Why is there so much disregard for royalty in Nigeria these days? A queen of a renowned kingdom being addressed with disrespect by her first name? O ga oh!”
@namso_231 wrote, “If Lege was from another tribe addressing her the way he did, all our Yoruba friend will be in the comment section asking for his head and telling us about how Yoruba culture does not condone disrespect. Ordinary hand shake, Pete Edochie did not drink water again.”
