Men of the Cross-River State police command have arrested a woman for allegedly beheading her 11-month-old baby on Tuesday, November 29.
Confirming the arrest to newsmen, the spokesperson of the state police command, Irene Ugbo said the suspect who committed the crime at the Yonen community of Ugep, Yakurr local government area, was almost lynched by a mob after she was apprehended. Ugbo added that the case would be transferred from Ugep to the homicide department for proper investigation.

“It is quite unfortunate and devastating, already she is in protective custody, but the matter will surely be brought to Calabar”
According to eyewitnesses, the mother of two allegedly used a machete to cut off the head of the baby. A witness said the woman’s eight-year-old son raised the alarm about the killing, which attracted neighbors.
In other news, A yet-to-be-identified Nigerian man has been arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend in Ghana.
Babs Cann, a popular Ghanaian media personality who shared the news online, said the young man murdered the girlfriend in cold blood and severed her head. (READ HERE ICYMI)
