A Nigerian chef identified as @chef_alams has expressed displeasure after discovering the branded groundnut oil he bought  started foaming while frying plantain for social media content.

In the video shared online, the chef added the sliced plantain directly from the bowl into the hot oil to fry. To his surprise, the groundnut oil began to rise to the brim of the pan as it turned foamy.

Meanwhile, the plantain ‘dodo’ came out in its usual smooth and rich texture, without the oil altering its preferred appearance.

The chef mentioned that the oil is a branded product, he had purchased from a well-known supermarket while inquiring about the cause of oil foaming when frying.

In his words,

“What could be the cause of this 🤷🏽‍♂️
FYI: It’s a branded oil, purchased from a reputable supermarket”

Viewers suggest the oil foaming is the result of using the oil to fry different food repeatedly while others speculated that oil wasn’t branded as he claimed, instead, it is a measurable oil from the local market.
