A young Nigerian man, Daniel Ayuba Mark, has reportedly committed suicide after being scammed of N1.5 million by online fraudsters.
The man, who advocates for public and mental health on social media, suffered a major blow to his mental health when he got scammed.
He had taken to popular microblogging platform, Twitter, to disclose that a scammer withdrew N1.5 million from an account he didn’t know was linked to a sport betting platform.
However, it seemed the case was not resolved as he took to Twitter again to solicit for funds from people so he could restart his life. He admitted that he was considering ending it all, but he changed his mind and said he needs to stay alive to face his fears.
On February 25, he tweeted, “I have killed myself… please forgive me world… forgive me.”
People didn’t take his tweet seriously as they thought he was only seeking attention, until his death was confirmed in an obituary released recently.
He reportedly offed himself on February 28 and was laid to rest on Monday, February 28.
