A 37-year-old Nigerian woman, Amaka Roberts, has taken to social media to express her happiness after she got married to her Romanian spouse five months after they met online.
Amaka said in a series of posts on her Instagram page that she had given up on finding true love after waiting for so long and experiencing so many heartbreaks from guys she had previously met.
She claimed to have found her spouse via a dating app in March 2023, and that during the second week of their long-distance relationship, he had requested their “marriage list.”
On August 4, she said, he traveled to Nigeria after five months of dating. They were legally married on August 5 and were married in a regular church ceremony on August 12.
She said before she got married, her father, who is a pastor, felt ashamed as he couldn’t pray for single ladies to get married while his daughter was getting older without being married.
Sharing their love story, Amaka wrote;
“For those asking about how we met…
Our Love story.
March 5, 2023, I met my Romanian but UK based Husband on a dating app.
I had almost given up and was about deleting the app when he liked my profile, we matched and I said ” hello” and that was how it all started.
2 weeks later, he met with my parents virtually…asked for traditional marriage rites lists.
My Dad hesitated at first cos he was still in doubt if he was real or not cos I’ve had lots terrible experiences with men who came to meet my parents for my hand in marriage but later turned out to be either married or Playboys….so my dad was very sceptical about this… but being a pastor he asked for sometime to pray about it which he did….& his mind was at peace.
He sent the list…and My husband ( then my online boyfriend) sent the Money for everything in the list including my bride price, this was done after his parents met with my parents for a virtual introduction.
Fast forward to August 4th 2023, he came down to Nigeria from UK for the very first time… I was very shy to hug him properly cos my parents went with me to the airport to pick him up.
Then August 5th, we had our Court Wedding….and August 12, we did both the Traditional & Church wedding….His parents couldn’t attend physically cos of his Dad’s health but they followed it all through Virtually as it was transmitted Live for them to watch.
It was a very emotional day… God was involved from the beginning to the end, the atmosphere was charged with God’s presence as my Dad led me inside the church down the aisle.
It was the happiest day of my life getting married to the man whom God used to take away all the name calling, mockery & tears I was experiencing as a 37 years old unmarried single lady!
God never comes late, He only has His time table & He follows it duely!
To Him alone be the Glory”
