Nollywood actress, Ashabi Ayantunde, popularly known as Iya Ife has died, few days after celebrating her birthday.
The actress died in Ile Ife, Osun state on Sunday evening, April 11th after a brief illness. She was said to have fallen ill and rushed to Ile-Ife, Osun State where she died.
A colleague of the deceased, Buky Smart took to social media to share the news of her death. According to Buky the news of the veteran’s death came like a shock.

“AM STILL IN SHOCK😭😭😭…IYA IFE RIP IYA BI IYAMI😭😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏ALLAH PLS FORGOVE HER SHORTCOMINGS AND GRANT HER SOUL PARADISE..AMEEEN YAH ALLAH.😢🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏PLS SAY A PRAYER FOR HER”.
The late actress featured in several films which includes, Oro Aye, Terror, Atidade Kinihun, Afefe, Onibara Aje, Olori, Old Soja and Ogbologbo.

Meanwhile actor, Olamilekan Ayinla, revealed he took to his Instagram page moments before the news of her death to celebrate her.
He wrote,
“was wishing you long life and prosperity this morning around (3 am)on my post before this, not knowing that you are no more IYA IFE😭😭😭😭😭 this woman will call me almost everyday to pray for me😭😭 it’s now over IYA BI IYAMI😭😭😭😭😭 Rest In Peace ASHABI”.
