Laolu Akande, the media aide of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, has debunked reports that his principal was involved in an accident.
A report emerged online claiming the Vice President was involved in a fatal accident in Abuja today, June 6.
However, Laolu has now clarified the information as he revealed that the VP only stopped to help the accident victim.
He said the Vice President was on his way to the airport when he came across the accident, and stopped to render assistance to the victim before heading to Owo, Ondo state.
He tweeted;
“On his way to the airport this morning, VP came across a road traffic accident, stopped to lend assistance, & ensured victim was taken to the hospital with VP’s convoy ambulance. He then proceeded on his trip and is now in Ondo State heading to site of yesterday’s attack in Owo.”
Osinbajo has also released an official statement on Twitter to address the false report.
Sharing photos from the scene, he wrote,
“I was not involved in an accident. On my way to the airport, we ran into an accident scene. My security and medical teams assisted in removing the victims of the crash from the scene.
They have been transported to the Airforce Base hospital.”
