Ekong wrote,

“Power of social media. Apparently our plane is being fueled as we speak and we should be leaving to Nigeria shortly. Thanks for everyone’s support!

I REITERATE: We would NEVER treat a guest nation for a game in this way. Mistakes happen, delays happen. But never on purpose!”

The Super Eagles captain revealed on Twitter (X) that the squad’s plane is being fueled to return them to Nigeria because they will not be playing the Libyan team due to the mistreatment and psychological strain they inflicted on the team and its official.

He went on to say that although Nigeria would never intentionally mistreat its guests in such a way, the Libyan government did.

The news has caused outrage on social media as Nigerians call for the attention of foreign ministry and ambassadorial offices of the concerned countries.
