An important and famous member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Rasaq Bello, popularly called Hamburger in Lagos was shot dead.
Hamburger, who is the Lagos State Treasurer of Tricycle Operators, a branch of NURTW, was shot by members of a rival gang led by Samson Agbetoye, popularly called Golden. Golden is said to belong to the MC Olumo faction of the NURTW in the state.
Reports are, that trouble started shortly after the council primary was suddenly aborted after members protested the modalities for the conduct of the exercise on Monday during the local council primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
An exchange of gunshots and terror occured among both gangs where Hamburger was hit with a gunshot and was ferried away from the scene of the incident by his supporters.
The incident has forced residents of the Owode Street in Oshodi and its environs to flee their homes over fears of a reprisal attack.
The deceased was recently installed as the Akinrogun of Shogunle.
