The family of the late Herbert Wigwe, former Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of Access Holdings Plc, has announced the arrangements for his burial rites.
It will be recalled that the banking guru, along with his wife Chizoba and son, tragically died in a chopper crash in the US on February 9.
According to the funeral announcement, the events will commence with a celebration of the professional legacy of the 57-year-old banker at the Eko Hotel in Lagos on March 4, concluding with an outing service at the Redeemed Christian Church Of God (RCCG), Lion of Judah Parish, Isiokpo, Ikwerre LGA, Rivers, on March 10.
Separate ceremonies to honor Chizi and Chizoba will take place on March 5 at the Eko Hotel in Lagos, followed by a night of tribute at the same venue the next day.
A combined service of songs will be held on March 7 at the RCCG, Resurrection Parish, Lekki, followed by a Christian wake-keeping at Wigwe University, Isiokpo, Ikwerre LGA, Rivers.
The combined funeral and private internment service are scheduled for March 9.
Netizens couldn’t help but notice that the RCCG City of David parish, where the late Wigwes worshipped, was omitted from the burial program.
This decision was made in light of the fact that the senior pastor’s wife, Siju Iluyomade, held a lavish birthday party, featuring singer Flavour as a guest performer, just days after their passing.
Many Nigerians have since expressed disappointment in the cleric’s wife, who was regarded as spiritual mother of the Wigwes. They asserted that she should have postponed her birthday celebration out of respect for the deceased family.
