Nigeria’s first lady, Aisha Buhari has shared in a new statement how she rejected the advice to seek medical attention in London.
It’s a known fact that just this year alone, her husband, the president, has spent over 150 days in London, treating an undisclosed ailment.
While speaking at a stakeholders meeting on Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn Child, Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH+N), held at the banquet hall of Aso Rock on Monday, the president’s wife lamented over the condition of the clinic at Nigeria’s seat of power.
She spoke of how she could have been admitted at the Aso Villa clinic, but the woes of the health centre had to eventually make her move to a private hospital which was established by foreigners.
In her words,
“Few weeks ago I was sick as well, they advised me to take the first flight to London, I refused to go. I said I must be treated in Nigeria because there is a budget for an assigned clinic to take care of us,” she said.
“If the budget is N100 million, we need to know how it is spent. Along the line, I insisted they call Aso Clinic to find out if the X-ray machine was working, they said it was not working. They didn’t know I am the one who was supposed to be in that hospital at that very time.
“I had to go to a hospital that was established by foreigners in and out 100 percent. What does that mean?
“So, I think is high time we did the right thing. If something like this can happen to me, no need for me to ask the governors wives what is happening in their states. This is Abuja, the seat of government, and this is presidential villa.”
