Officers of the disbanded Special Anti Robbery Squad unit of the Nigerian police unit, were reportedly spotted in Owerri searching peoples phones.
A Twitter user @chosensomto, took to the platform to share the video of the officers searching peoples phones, two weeks after the announced disbandment.
Somto In his tweet called for the continuation of the protest against police brutality and police reform.
He wrote,
“Check the time stamp; this video of SARS officers illegally searching the phones of young Nigerians in Owerri was recorded today; 2 weeks after Buhari and his IG announced the disbarment of the unit. #EndSARS protests must continue!”

Recall that the Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Mohammed on the 13th of October disclosed that the infamous Police unit, SARS has been disbanded and replaced with a new unit, SWAT.
According to Adamu Mohammed the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, will fill the gaps arising from the dissolution of the defunct SARS.
