Popular Nigerian singer, Seun Kuti, has finally responded to allegations that he physically and verbally abuses his wife Yetunde.
Speculations arose recently suggesting that the Afrobeat singer’s wife, Yetunde, might be a victim of domestic violence after a viral video showed him yelling at her during an altercation with a police officer.
In the video, which circulated online a few weeks ago, Yetunde is seen stepping out of the car in an attempt to calm her husband during the confrontation with the officer on Third Mainland Bridge. However, Seun ordered her back into the car, and she complied without hesitation.

This sparked a flurry of reactions from social media users who speculated that Yetunde was afraid of her husband.
Addressing these speculations during a recent Instagram live session, Seun Kuti denied assaulting his wife.
He also debunked the notion that Yetunde is scared of him, stating that he is the one who is actually scared of her. He added that those who are familiar with his family could testify to this.
“The most important rumor I must dispel is the one that they said I’m beating my wife. They said I screamed at her to get into the car [in the viral video], and she went into the car… That she is scared of me. My wife is not scared of me. Trust me, if you know anybody that knows us, I’m the one that’s scared of my wife. But my wife respects me,” he explained.
