When American singer, Selena Gomez, was fighting for her life after she was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease lupus in 2017, her friend, Francia Raisa, came to the rescue and donated her kidney to the singer, seemingly sealing their bond as close friends and ‘sisters’.
However, five years after the selfless gesture, the former BFFs seem to have fallen out as Francia has unfollowed Selena Gomez on Instagram because of a comment she made during a recent interview.
Selena Gomez had in an interview for her new Apple TV+ documentary, My Mind and Me, disclosed that her only friend in the industry is Taylor Swift.
Speaking with Rolling Stone, she said,
“I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities. My only friend in the industry really is Taylor [Swift], so I remember feeling like I didn’t belong.”
E! News highlighted her statement and posted it on their official Instagram page but it seemingly didn’t sit well with Francia who had sacrificed her own life to save Selena. Commenting on the post, she wrote, “Interesting”, but later deleted the comment.

The ‘Grownish’ actor also unfollowed Selena Gomez on Instagram but the actress/singer is still following her on the photo and video sharing platform.
The mild outburst has sparked a myriad of reactions on social media, as netizens opined that Selena wasn’t referring to celebrities in the movie industry where Francia belongs to, but the music industry.
In an attempt to quell the commotion, Selena who became friends with Francia in 2007, took to the comment section of a TikTok video about the incident and wrote, “Sorry I didn’t mention every person I know.”
