In a disturbing incident, gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have targeted a private nursery school in Emure, Ekiti State, abducting both pupils and teachers.
The incident took place on Monday, January 29, when the gunmen intercepted the school bus along the Eporo-Ekiti route in the Emure area of the state.
According to sources, six pupils, three teachers, and the bus driver were kidnapped, and their current whereabouts remain unknown.
The abduction occurred near the boundary shared with Ondo State, raising concerns about the safety of the victims.
Tragically, this incident coincided with the shooting deaths of two traditional rulers in the Oke-Ako axis of Ikole Local Government Area on the same day.
The series of events has heightened fears and alarmed the community.
Addressing the situation, Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has called on citizens not to lose hope, assuring them that every effort is being made to rescue the abducted children and teachers.
The governor condemned the heartless act, describing it as unacceptable.
The Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, confirmed that security agencies in the state are actively pursuing the abductors, to ensure the safe rescue of the pupils and teachers.
