Nollywood actress, Esther Nwachukwu has opined that the 27-year-old Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci, who broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time by an individual, was being overhyped.
Hilda, from Akwa Ibom State, broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time by an individual on Monday, May 15, after she smashed the previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes set by Indian chef Lata Tondon in 2019.
After four days of cooking non-stop, Hilda set a new Guinness World Record of 100 hours for the longest cooking time by an individual as she ended the cooking marathon on Monday night, May 15.
Her achievement was widely celebrated by Nigerians, including President Muhammadu Buhari and President-elect Bola Tinubu.
However, in a video shared on her Instagram page, actress Nwachukwu expressed her opinion that Hilda was being excessively praised.
According to her, Hilda’s accomplishment was not exceptional, as there are other Nigerians, including herself, who are capable of achieving the same feat.
“So, guys, it’s not only Hilda who knows how to cook. You guys are just praising Hilda. What did she even do? What did Hilda Baci do that you guys are praising her as if she’s the only person who knows how to cook in this world?
“Do you know that we have people in this country who know how to cook even more [than Hilda]? We can stand for 100 hours or even longer and cook nonstop. And that’s me. I can stand for millions of hours and cook non-stop,” she said.
