British singer and songwriter, Craig David has revealed that he has been celibate for a year after suffering different traumas from one-night stands.
The 42-year-old singer, who was previously known for his promiscuous ways, admitted that he has undergone a transformation and is currently not involved in any romantic relationships.
Craig, who bragged about ‘making love on Wednesday, and then on Thursday, and Friday and Saturday’ in his hit single ‘7 days’, revealed he has not been intimate with a woman for ‘maybe a year or so’.
During an interview with Louis Theroux on his podcast, Craig David expressed his belief that engaging in one-night stands can lead to ‘many different traumas’.
He added that he hopes his decision to abstain from sex will make him mentally prepared to meet his next girlfriend as he wants to start a relationship from a ‘good place’.
He said:
“Sometimes you gotta pull it back, man. I’m 42 years old now, things are different.
“If we can’t deep dive, if I can’t have a conversation and at the same time laugh like crazy with you, and see the beauty from within you, then we’re just gonna be doing the same game that I’ve been playing since day one.
‘I don’t want that anymore.”
In his younger years, Craig was involved in several short-term relationships but never pursued anything serious because he was scared of getting hurt like he did when he was only 16.
‘I had never felt anything like that before. My heart kind of closed down,’ he added.
