Some Nigerian men who are Lagos state residents took to their social media pages to cry out after they were arrested last night, August 5 for flouting the 10:00pm curfew put in place by the Federal government to curb the spread of the novel Coronavirus.
According to the men, there was heavy traffic in Lagos on Wednesday and so they couldn’t beat the curfew hour.
The police officers enforcing the traffic in Ikeja apprehended them and threw them in a crowded cell where none of the COVID-19 protocols such as social distancing was observed.
A Twitter user, Osinaike Joseph, who shared videos from the cell, alleged that the police officers refused to release some of them who were visibly sick.
They accused the police of demanding bribe from them before their release.
