Nigerian singer, Spyro, has broken his silence after popular clergyman, Pastor Bolaji Idowu, was criticized online for inviting him to perform at his Christmas Carol Service.
It’s no news that Pastor B, the lead pastor of Harvesters International Christian Centre, has been trending on Twitter since videos from the carol service held on Sunday, December 17, were shared on social media.
During the service tagged ‘Fantasia’, celebrities such as Spyro, BBNaija star Dorathy, and actor Etim Effiong acted in a stage play. Spyro also performed his hit song ‘Only Fine Girl’ to serenade Dorathy.
Watch one of the videos below.
This didn’t sit well with some social media users who expressed disapproval and questioned the alignment of the song with Christian values. However, others argued that it was not that ‘deep’ as Spyro only sang the song as part of a stage play.
Following the controversy, Spyro took to social media to provide perspective on Monday, December 18. He explained that he has been a member of Harvesters Church for over seven years and serves in two units.
He asserted that being a celebrity doesn’t stop him from being human, a Christian, and serving God in his local assembly.

“Just saw myself and pastor B has been getting dragged because I did a drama ministration I’m church 🤷🏽♂️
Let me make something’s very clear!!
1. I’ve been a member of Harvesters for well over 7 years, and I serve in two departments
2. The clip making rounds on social media is off a drama I took part of at our annual carol service called Fantasia
3. The Carol was completely FREE for all. The tickets were free!
4. Because I am a celebrity doesn’t make me human?? I can serve God like the rest of you naw
So pls understand that I am Human, a Christian and I serve in a real church!!!
T for thanks”
