Queen Naomi, the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has spoken about the possibility of reconciliation with the Yoruba monarch.
In a recent interview with Punch, the mother of one, who recently turned 30, made it clear that she has no intention of returning to the palace to join the six other queens.
Recall that the Ooni of Ife made headlines last year when he took six wives in quick succession.
Speaking about the possibility of reconciliation with the Ooni, she said,
“As I have been speaking to you for the past one hour, do I look like someone who can survive in the midst of six mature and strong women? No! I am a soft, strong, gentle woman, and I can’t be a square peg in a round hole.”
In December 2021, Queen Naomi announced that she had parted ways with her husband, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi. According to her, she had tried her best to endure and make their marriage work, adding that she had smiled through the struggle but was now done.
She also told her kinsmen not to associate her with the Ooni or Ife or call her the Queen of Ile-Ife any longer. However, the palace maintained that the royal couple was still married.
In a new development, the 29-year-old Olori took to her Instagram page on Thursday, August 29, to speak about how difficult it is for women to walk away from an abusive marriage.
Reacting to the post, her sister Simi said no woman deserves to experience even a tiny bit of what she went through and is still going through. She added that Queen Naomi has gone through enough, and it’s time ‘to wake the sleeping dog’.
