Nigerian singer, Abiola Ahmed Akinbiyi, better known as Bella Shmurda has said that his anxiety caused him to give up using marijuana.
The “Cash App” singer stated this in the most recent “In My Opinion” podcast episode. He, however, clarified that he still smokes cigarettes.
Bella Shmurda said that he gave up using marijuana four years ago out of fear for his future.
He stated that contrary to claims that smoking weed boosts creativity, it did not help him in terms of mastering the art of music making.
In his words;
“I don’t smoke igbo [weed]. I used to but I started having anxieties smoking weed. I started getting scared of the future. So, four years ago, I stopped smoking weed. I just take cigarettes and liquor.
It wasn’t helping the creativity in my case. Everything I was doing when I was smoking weed, I was having anxieties. At a point, it was affecting me in the studio. I would just be lost in the middle. It wasn’t working anymore. I just have to stop. That was earlier in my career. It wasn’t helping.”
