The Nigeria Football Federation is presently planning to secure a warm-up match for the Super Eagles squad against England ahead of the 2018 World Cup tournament in Russia.
The general secretary of the (NFF), Mohammed Sanusi made this known in a statement.
“We plan to play a friendly against England in June, before the World Cup,” he said, adding that the venue and other details of the match were still to be worked out.
Sanusi also revealed that Eagles squad will also play at least one friendly match, in the country’s capital Abuja to show the team’s appreciation for the support of both the Nigerian government and people.
Both Nigeria and England will feature at next year’s World Cup in Russia, with Super Eagles drawn in Group D along with Argentina, Croatia, and Iceland, while England is in Group G with Belgium, Panama and Tunisia.
The last time Nigeria played England, was in November 1995. England won 1-0 at Wembley courtesy of a David Platt headed goal.
