Super Eagles player, Ahmed Musa, has stepped forward to appeal to Nigerians to cease the cyberbullying targeted at his teammate, Alex Iwobi.
The attacks on Alex Iwobi escalated after the Super Eagles’ defeat to Ivory Coast in the AFCON Final match on Sunday, February 11.
The relentless criticism led Alex Iwobi to delete most of his posts on his Instagram page, reflecting the toll this cyberbullying has taken on him.
In response to the situation, Ahmed Musa took to social media to address the issue and request an end to the online attacks.
In his heartfelt message, he urged fans to consider the consequences of cyberbullying, emphasizing that it not only violates decency but is also a serious crime.
He pointed out the hypocrisy of claiming that football unites people while engaging in such behavior.
he stressed that singling out a single player for the team’s shortcomings is unfair and unjust.
He reminded everyone that victories and defeats are shared as a team.
Alex Iwobi, like every member of the squad, gave their best on the field.
Rather than spreading negativity, he called for genuine love and support towards the players.
He emphasized that they need encouragement now more than ever.
He urged Nigerians to uplift each other and stand united.
