Fast-rising Nollywood actress, Bella Ebinum, has said she is tired of acting in village-themed movies and desires to feature in better roles.
She stated this in reaction to the public outcry that arose after Asaba-based actors, including herself, were snubbed in the recently concluded Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Recall that the organizers of the award show were called out for not recognizing actors based in the Eastern and Southern part of Nigeria, such as Destiny Etiko, Yul Edochie, and Junior Pope, and failing to nominate them in any award category.
Following the outburst, Bella went online to defend AMVCA, stating that they did not recognize Asaba-based actors and producers because of the quality of movies they churn out.
She said they are fond of producing movies with the same recycled storylines, adding that she is fed up of acting in village-themed and witchcraft movies all the time..
Speaking further, Bella encouraged producers to create impactful movies with compelling storylines, as this could potentially lead to recognition in future award ceremonies.
In her words, “Do good movies; every time you people will keep repeating the same stories. I’m tired of acting in village movies; let’s upgrade. When you upgrade, they will recognize you, people. I don’t blame them for not recognizing you; just do good movies.”
