Two fake soldiers who extort and maltreat innocent Nigerians, were arrested on Wednesday by the troops of 3 Battalion Nigerian Army operating in Delta State.
The suspects, identified as Onwusuluke Kelechi and Emejo Benedict, extort money from commercial tricycle (KEKE NAPEP) drivers and molest fellow civilians along Nnebisi Road, Asaba, Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State.
They were dressed in military camouflage uniform while they performed these operations.
The Army spokesperson, Sani Usman, in a statement released this morning said, the suspects have since been handed over to the Nigerian Police in Asaba, Delta State.
He said:
“It is necessary to enjoin the general public to be more vigilant and security conscious because of the activities of these impostors.
“The general public are therefore requested to report anyone claiming to be a soldier outside a designated military locations.
“We would like to again call the public to please take advantage of the newly established Nigerian Army Information and Call Centre to report any such issue and other security concern by calling the short code 193 using any of the telecommunication service providers in Nigeria or through email at [email protected]”
