Tragedy struck at Emerald International School in Aba, Abia State, as a two-year-old boy, David Etim Udo, lost his life after falling from the third floor of the school building.
The young child suffered severe head and body injuries as a result of the fall. Despite immediate efforts to save him, David was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital.
Emerald International School, situated off Crystal Park Road in Aba South local government area, offers a comprehensive educational program from pre-nursery to secondary school levels.
The incident occurred on the evening of October 17, 2023, and David’s father, Mr. Jacob Etim Udo, accompanied by two individuals, arrived at the Ndiegoro Divisional Headquarters to report the tragic accident.
Confirming the incident, the Abia State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO Maureen Chinaka, expressed deep sorrow.
She shared the sequence of events, stating that David fell from a school building, leading to his untimely demise. The child’s body has been recovered and is scheduled for an autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a comprehensive and discreet inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
PPRO Maureen Chinaka assured the public that a meticulous investigation is underway to uncover the truth and shed light on the unfortunate incident.
Recognizing the concerns and emotions within the community, she urged everyone to remain calm and patient during the inquiry.
