The Nigerian lady, Busari Peace, 30, who was put up for sale online by a Lebanese man identified as Wael Jerro, has been rescued.
The Chairwoman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, shared the update on Twitter on Tuesday April 28.
Madame Erewa said Peace is currently at the Nigerian High Commission in Beirut.
“Update on Nigerian girl put up for sale by a Lebanese, Wael Jerro on Facebook. She has been rescued and safely with officials of the Nigerian Mission in Beirut. More updates later” she wrote
There was outrage when Jerro put up a post on a Facebook page – ‘Buy and Sell in Lebanon’, advertising Busari with her Nigerian passport.
He put a price tag of $1,000 on the Nigerian woman who is from Oyo State. Jerro has since been arrested.
