Popular comedienne and content creator, Maryam Akpaogaki, better known as Taaooma, has revealed why she ventured into music.
The multi-talented skit maker, during her appearance on the latest episode of The Leaderboard podcast hosted by Fisayo Fosudo, explained that she ventured into music because she believed it would be more fitting to use her own songs in her skits rather than relying on songs by other artists.
According to her, entertainment represents freedom, allowing one to explore various avenues.
“For me, entertainment is freedom. You can do anything.
“I also like the fact that it’s my music. It’s my song. It’s a song that I can be proud that I made. I just feel like I’m using other people’s songs [in my skits], and this thing is not so hard. I have a studio; we can record songs.
“I love music. Some people used to say I have [a melodic] voice. But, I feel like, instead of me trying to sing, we can do collaborations and make something happen,” she said.
Addressing the criticism she has faced for her musical pursuits, Taaooma firmly stated that it is ultimately up to God and her unwavering dedication to prove her detractors wrong.
