Nigerian Super Eagles players, Alex Iwobi and Victor Osimhen, recently made headlines when they avoided journalists seeking interviews at a public event.
The players, who had recently returned to Nigeria after finishing Second at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), were not in the mood to entertain questions from the press.
As the Super Eagles players returned home, their emotional state following the AFCON disappointment was evident.
Dressed in their team attire, the players seemed disinterested in engaging with journalists who approached them.
As Alex Iwobi walked by, a journalist called out to him, requesting an interview.
However, Iwobi simply glanced at the journalist and swiftly walked away, holding his passport.
Similarly, when Victor Osimhen was approached by a journalist who tried to thrust a microphone in his face, Osimhen dodged the microphone, replying:
“Make una free me, abeg” (Please leave me alone).
This incident occurred in the wake of online bullying directed at Alex Iwobi following Nigeria’s loss to Cote D’Ivoire in the AFCON.
In a show of solidarity and love, Osimhen and other Super Eagles players took to Instagram to support Iwobi, condemning the negative treatment he received.
As the video continues to circulate online, it as garnered much attention from netizens.
