A Nigerian man has cried out on X (Twitter) with claims that staff at the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) office swapped his package.

He revealed that he was sent a watch from the USA through a delivery company but it was swapped with a counterfeit by NIPOST.

The man who had earlier received a picture of the package he had ordered was shocked to receive a counterfeit of the package.

Narrating his plight via the caption, he wrote;

“A watch was sent from the USA to Nigeria via USPS and arrived in Lagos, but someone in Nipost swapped it with a Lagos Island watch. I’m so tired of this.”

Many internet users who came across his post, have trooped to his comment section to console him.

While some condemned the actions of the staff who could have perpetuated this act, others shared the experiences they have had with the same delivery company.

Below are some of the comment;

@n6oflife6:  But why send such a thing via Form of Courier that will encounter Nipost. ? Every institution in this country is corrupt. God help Nigeria.

@NonyeKings:  I hope you had insurance on the package cos it’s the duty of USPS to protect that package until it gets to you. This would be so difficult to investigate as Nigerian offices don’t work with cameras.

@Airdropglobal5:  Tampering with post needs to be a crime with stiff penalties such as prison. Unfortunately there’s no sort of tracking to see which NIPOST worker handled it last. That’s a Cartier watch as well

@TheManAfricano:  That is why if I am sending anything like phone or electronics to Nigeria, I prefer to go through someone I know personally that is visiting Nigeria.
