Anthony Chinasa-Abiola, the Labour Party candidate who won a seat in the Abia state House of Assembly, has dismissed claims he is of Yoruba descent.
There have been speculations that Chinasa-Abiola, who won the election to represent Umuahia Central Constituency at the Abia State House of Assembly, is a Yoruba man because of the “Abiola” in his name.
Well, he has now clarified in an interview with TVC that he’s not from the Yoruba ethnic group.
According to him, he adopted the name Abiola to show support for Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos.
He noted that the name Abiola is just a “nickname” or “guy name” that he uses.

In other news, popular Nollywood actress, Foluke Daramola has claimed that her husband was sidelined by Labour Party gubernatorial candidate in Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV)after handing him a party ticket.
In order to run for the Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 1 spot in the House of Representatives, Foluke’s husband, Kayode Salako, withdrew from his position as Lagos State Chairman of the Labour Party in January 2023 after serving in that position for six months.
Foluke Daramola claimed in a heated conversation on Instagram that GRV turned tribalistic after receiving a party ticket from her spouse. She alleged that he substituted Igbo for Yoruba candidates for the House of Assembly.
In her words;
“take ur time o don’t insult me on my page and I say a big amen to ur prayers God will reward me according to the work of my hands I know Gbadebo very well my husband gave him that ticket and what did he do next he removed my husband and the Labour Party chairman cos he’s not ibo and all the Yoruba house of assembly he took their tickets to put Igbo there and u dare come to my page to insult me??!!!….let’s be guided o abeg.”
