A young Nigerian man who was randomly picked up by the police has been released after spending two years in jail.
The man whose name wasn’t disclosed, was allegedly arrested while he was on his way home two years ago and has reportedly been behind bars since then.
According to lawyer and activist, Malachy Odo, who shared this on Twitter, the man has finally regained freedom today, January 25, after appearing at the Surulere Magistrate court.
Sharing a group photo with the young man, Malachy wrote,
“The young man in white shirt goes home today from Surulere Magistrate Court after 2 years in prison custody sequel to being picked up by the police at night on his way home.
*I have his consent to post this.”

A while ago, another man was released from prison after spending almost a decade for a crime he knew nothing about.
The unidentified man was reportedly arrested during a raid in Oworonshoki and subsequently imprisoned for seven years in Ikoyi prisons, Lagos state.
After being helped by some well-meaning Nigerians who took interest in his case, the young man is now a free citizen.
A lawyer, Malachy Odo shared the story via Twitter as he revealed how the recently released man said he does not know what an Uber is, when attempt was made to order one for him.
